We have created the FAQ below to answer some of the questions we are sure you may have.
I have Simply Accounting Basic 2007 or Simply Accounting 2008, which product should I upgrade to?
The upgrade for Simply Accounting Basic 2007 or Simply Accounting 2008 is now Simply Accounting Pro 2010. We have transitioned away from calling any of the products "Basic" because the product just isn't basic anymore. In 2008, we dropped the term "Basic" and since 2009 we have added "Pro" which better reflects the level of accounting and business management tools available in the product. See also, the upgrade paths diagram.
I have Simply Accounting Pro 2007 or earlier, which product should I upgrade up to?
Your upgrade for Simply Accounting Pro 2007 or earlier is either Simply Accounting Premium 2010 or Simply Accounting Enterprise 2010.
Simply Accounting Premium 2010 and Simply Accounting Enterprise 2010 are the only products that support multiple users. Premium supports up to 4 users and Enterprise is available as a 5-, 10-, 15-, or 20-user edition.
If you have multiple users, you should be looking at upgrading to either the Premium or Enterprise product. See also, the upgrade paths diagram
I have Simply Accounting Premium 2008, which product should I upgrade up to?
You should upgrade to Simply Accounting Premium 2010 if you only have 4 or less users. If you have more than 4 users, then we encourage you to look at Simply Accounting Enterprise. Simply Accounting Premium will support up to 4 users whereas Simply Accounting Enterprise supports up to 20 users. See also, the upgrade paths diagram.
I am new to Simply Accounting, how do I choose?
Please use our product selector tool. It will ask you a few questions, and then recommend the product that's right for you.
Is Simply Accounting First Step the same as Basic?
No. The past "Basic" product is now positioned as Simply Accounting Pro because it provides all the tools you need to accelerate the growth of your business.
First Step is our single user entry level accounting software package for entrepreneurs, small or home-based business owners who need to move to a simplified accounting software package. If you are currently using pen and paper method or a spreadsheet program, this is a great place to start. This product doesn't have payroll nor inventory management. It provides easy to use tools to track revenues, expenses and tax.
Why did you change the name to Pro? This makes things more confusing for previous Pro customers and Basic customers.
We didn't come to this decision easily. But after extensive customer research we found that new customers were having a hard time picking the product that's right for them at point of sale. We want to make it clear and easy for all customers to select the product that's right for them. Pro 2009 and 2010 are not multi user ready and so we recommend Premium 2010 or Enterprise 2010 if you have multiple users. See also, the upgrade paths diagram.
How many user licenses do I get with Simply Accounting Premium 2010?
Simply Accounting Premium 2010 now includes 2-user licenses, but an additional 2 user license can be purchased.
Why are you capping the number of users for Simply Accounting Premium at 4?
Once a business has exceeded the need for 4 users, it should move to Enterprise which comes in 5-, 10-, 15-, or 20-user editions. With Enterprise you get a whole lot more than just licenses. You get: Serialized Inventory, Role-based security, Financial and Banking Report level security, more departments (1000), price lists (1000), customer ship-to addresses (100), Priority Access, and Dedicated Account Management.
When does the Care pricing take effect?
Customers whose SimplyCARE plans expire on or after October 1, 2009 will be affected by the new pricing.
