Software Registration/Activation required for Simply Accounting 2008
Simply Accounting 2008 requires you to register and activate your software within 15 days of installation. This is a one-time process.
Please follow these instructions to install and register your software:
Step 1: Install Simply Accounting.
- Insert the Simply Accounting CD, and from the splash screen select "Install Simply Accounting."
- Choose your preferred language and click on "Next".
- You will then be asked to choose between installing "Simply Accounting – Full Version"
or "Simply Accounting – Free 60 Day Trial Version." Please select "Simply Accounting
– Full Version" and click on "Next."
- A prompt will then ask you to enter the product Serial Number which is located on
the back of your product CD case.
- Read and accept the license agreement, then, if you store your company data on
a network server, please click on the "Installation Guide". If not, click on "Next".
- Complete the following fields on the "Customer Information" window:
- User Name: Whatever you choose
- Company Name: Enter your company name
- Follow the installation prompts.
You may use the software for 15 days before registration and activation is required.
Step 2: Register Simply Accounting
There are two ways to register Simply Accounting:
- During business hours (Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time), call 1-888-261-9610
- During non-business hours, register online at www.simplyaccounting.com/keyreg
Following registration, you will receive a registration confirmation e-mail containing your activation information.
Step 3: Activate Simply Accounting
Be sure to have the registration information from the e-mail that was sent to you before attempting to activate.
- Launch Simply Accounting 2008.
- Click on the "Activate Now" button from the "Product Registration" screen. Complete all four fields.
- Company Name: Enter your company name as it is shown in your registration confirmation e-mail.
- Serial Number: This field should be already populated. If not, your Serial number can be found on the back of the Simply Accounting CD case.
- Client ID: This is your 7-digit Client identification number. You can find this number in the registration confirmation e-mail. Do not include any spaces, dashes, etc.
- Key Code: You will find this in the registration confirmation e-mail. The Key Code is a string of 23 alphanumeric characters and is not case sensitive.
- After completing the activation screen, click "ok". Your software has now been successfully activated.
Activate Payroll
If you subscribe to SimplyCARE Payroll Services, you can obtain your Payroll ID when registering Simply Accounting 2008. Your Payroll ID can also be found on your registration confirmation e-mail. To enter your Payroll ID:
- Launch Simply Accounting 2008. Under the main Help menu, select "Unlock Auto Payroll." Then click on "Enter Payroll ID."
- Enter your Client ID and Payroll ID and click "OK."

What do I need to activate my Simply Accounting 2008 software?
You will need to provide four pieces of information to activate Simply Accounting 2008:
Company Name
Client ID
Key Code
Product Serial Number
KEY CODE
Is the Key Code case sensitive?
No.
Does the Key Code use all numbers and alphabet letters?
No. The Key Code does not use the letters O and I. If a letter looks like an I or an O, try entering the Key Code again using the numbers one (1) and zero (0) instead.
PAYROLL ID
Do I have to register Simply Accounting 2008 to obtain my Payroll ID?
You must first register your software and have an active subscription to SimplyCARE to obtain your Payroll ID. Please call 1-888-261-9610 or visit here to register your software. You can obtain a Temporary Payroll ID by signing up for the SimplyCARE 60-day trial.
Does the Payroll ID use all numbers and alphabet letters?
Similar to the product Key Code, the Payroll ID does not use the letters I and O. Enter the Payroll ID using numbers one (1) and zero (0) instead.
Do I have to activate my software before entering my Payroll ID?
Before you enter your Payroll ID, you must first activate your software by entering your Key Code.
How do I get a Temporary Payroll ID?
If you are not yet ready to subscribe to SimplyCARE, you may obtain your Temporary Payroll ID by signing up for the SimplyCARE 60-day trial. At the end of your 60 day trial, you must sign up for SimplyCARE to continue using Simply Accounting to automatically calculate your employees' payroll earnings and deductions. Call 888-261-9610 to sign up.
COMPANY NAME
Can I use the Customer Profile Update page to change my Company Name?
The Customer Profile Update page cannot be used to change your Company Name. Please contact Simply Accounting at 1-888-261-9610 if you need to change your Company Name.
CLIENT ID AND PASSWORD
Where can I get my Client ID or Password?
A unique Client ID and Password was generated for you when you registered Simply Accounting. Please look at the registration confirmation email, or any communication sent to you from Sage Software.
