In reply to Hi ca1245,
You can now download the latest product update for Simply Accounting 2007 HERE. When downloading the update, save it to the "Desktop", install the update from the "Desktop", and then try opening your data. Due to the enhanced security in the C:\Program Files directory try to avoid saving your Simply Accounting company files, backups, or another files for that matter in this location. The program can still be installed here but I find that files can't be stored here any longer.
I hope this helps.

In reply to The patch Andrew posted addresses some specific functionality issues with regards to Vista and 2007, but the reality is that the 2007 edition is not fully vista-compatibile and never will be. I've had clients for whom the software has worked, but has caused bizarre issues and crashes to desktop at odd times due to the ACCESS database.
If you're looking at using Simply for an extended period of time on a Vista machine, I'd strongly recommend using the 2008 or 2009 edition.

In reply to Hi Max,
Thanks for the feedback and you're correct, there will be no more updates for Simply 2007 as we currently support the 2008 and 2009 versions at the moment. I've also spoken to several clients who use Simply 2007 on a Vista computer and for the most part it works ok if they've installed the latest update for 2007 and their data isn't in the C:\Program Files directory. However like you mentioned there are some strange issues that still come up occasionally and the most common one I find is a "Transaction cannot be processed" prompt when trying to post a transaction from time to time. When this happens, you can close the program, re-open the data and I find they'll be able to post the transaction.
Most of the clients I speak with say they can tolerate these issues. However I agree with you that if ca1245 or any user wants to use Simply for an extended period of time on Vista, it would be a good idea to get either 2008 or 2009 as these versions are fully compatible with Vista. Thanks again.
Andrew
