If you are experiencing this issue and the sample does not open I suspect you may have a firewall configuration issue.
Uninstall Simply Accounting, do a reboot, then if you have a firewall make sure you configure it. The steps are on the Knowledge Base and I am providing you that link. Do the necessary configuration and reinstall Simply Accounting 2009.

Also - when you reinstall make sure you temporarily disable any spybot you may have running.
