I would suggest installing EFT on the server, instead of the workstation, in order to keep the configuration supported (this would technically be a local install then). I'm assuming you have checked that the directory location in the EFT Company profile is the correct, server location of the database? If not, check that.
If necessary create a test copy of the simply database and try connecting to that. Make sure the version in the EFT company profile is correct.
Post back and let me know if that works. If not, we may need to create a new company in EFT and I can give you steps on how to save your employee, vendor and customer bank information.
