Ver 2008 causes System Event Errors aplenty!

Yet another surprise courtesy of SA2008.

Every time 2008 is started on an XP-pro system with a full install of SA2008 the error message below (and eight others, all involving "VC80.MFC" appear in the Windows Event Viewer.

Anyone have any idea what the problem is, whether it might have repercussions on the integrity of the database, and how to fix it?

Re: Ver 2008 causes System Event Errors aplenty!

Just in case someone might find this useful, here are all the nine errors that occur every time SA2008 is run. (Hmmm - do you think that “the referenced assembly” just might  not be installed on my system?

    My questions are:

    • What in the world in the “referenced assembly”?
    • What in the world is Microsoft VC80.MFC?
    • Why isn’t the “referenced assembly” installed on my system? Isn’t that a task that is the responsibility of Sage, the software provider? It most certainly shouldn’t be the responsibility of me, the software user.
To complete my rant, the following copy of the Errorlog.txt file shows that SA2008 always shuts down with the “2 threads didn’t exit” error.

Maybe I am being too picky, but I don’t like the fact that an ever-increasing volume of error messages are accumulating on the computer in these log files. I also don’t like the fact that I don’t understand what they mean and therefore have the fear that my accounting data are being compromised. I am very uncomfortable with the thought that now SA is intricately bound up with NET.FRAMEWORK and who knows whatever other arcane features of the Windows operating system in ways that are impossible for a simple user to fathom.

Sorry for the rant, but who needs this kind of grief? I just want to keep my company books straight.

Reference error message: The operation completed successfully.

Resolve Partial Assembly failed for Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC. Reference error message: The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.

Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC could not be found and Last Error was The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.

    Dear rgershey,

I have not heard of this issue before with any other installation, but will bring it to the attention of the R&D team to be sure the correct dlls are part of the install process. In the meantime you can try the following link to the microsoft site which addresses this issue. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923014

Re: Ver 2008 causes System Event Errors aplenty!

Thank you for directing me to the Microsoft Website. After installing the runtime libraries the System Event Errors no longer occur. I am curious to know if these dll's are required to be present for correct operation of SA2008. It is not reasonable to believe that I am the only user to have had this problem.

The "threads didn't exit" error remains unsolved:

    Thanks again for your help.

    the reference assembly errors appear to be .Net message errors;

PS - I always ask the same question - why does it happen on one machine and not another? I think it is the fact that we are dealing with computers :)

In our office, initially we could not get the Office documents in 2008 Simply to work on one machine but they worked on another with a similar but not identical profile. Why? Who Knows - we are dealing with computers and they are all different.

Did you ever resolve the "2 threads didn't exist" problem? I have the same problem on my computer.

No, the "2 threads" error is there everytime 2008 is run.

Hope you have better luck in your new posting...

Hi, I just read your post and I am having very similar problems but mine started with backing up my data and it freezing. Below is the problem I have been having, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to bounce this off you to see if you had any success with fixing the errors and if so what you did exactly. Thanks, Bernadine Someone please help me!! I am still having the same problems that will not go away and are just getting worse. Almost every time I try to backup I am left in limbo most of the time with the Vista circle going around and around. I did a restore from backup (an earlier one) which seemed to work until I went in and added some information and then tried to backup the file...big mistake I haven't been able to backup sucessfully ever since and I am going on vacation next week and don't want to leave this like this. I have noticed one very peculiar thing though, in the file location when it does perform a backup the file size has jumped considerably. On August 20 the file size was 157,402 KB, on August 21 it was 1,262,174 KB, on 3 attempts of backups on August 24 the file sizes were 157,602 KB, then 325,993 KB and then 2,040,795 KB, and then on August 25 it was 935,174 KB. On top of these crazy file sizes in the error log it shows the following information, I don't know if it has anything to do with my problems but I thought it wouldn't hurt to put it in here just in case. 080826 16:10:54 InnoDB: Starting shutdown... 080826 16:10:58 InnoDB: Shutdown completed; log sequence number 0 94189906 080826 16:10:58 C:\Program Files\Winsim\ConnectionManager\MySqlBinary \5.0.38\mysql\mysqld-nt.exe: Shutdown complete. Error in my_thread_global_end(): 2 threads didn't exit. Bernadine
