    Error message in SA 2009 AE backup to network

    Hi,

     Is anyone else having trouble backing up to a network drive?  This used to work in SA 2008 AE, since the upgrade I can't get a backup to the server.

    The error message is 'backup of data was unsuccessful'

     i.e. the data is on \\server1\data, I've tried backing up to a mapped drive on another server (that does not have the Connection Manager on it) it fails every time.  It will back up to the Simply Accounting server, just not to the other server. 

    It doesn't seem to be related to access rights, to whether it's UNC or a mapped drive.  Both servers are Windows 2003, same patches, etc.  It's not impossible that it's the virus scanner (those are different).

    Anyone had a similar problem?

    Hi,

     Not yet, My testing showed:

    It always works without error messages when backing up to a computer with the Simply Accounting Connector installed. It always gives an error message otherwise.

    The backed up file works if 'verify' and 'compact' are turned off.

    To work around it: - I back up to my laptop - We back up our server with Arcserve and the Open File Agent. We plan to test this week whether those backups are all we need. I expect that the only time we require the Simply backup is when we are sending a copy of our books to our accountant.

    Hi and Yes, having the same problem and have been on hold with Simply for 30 minutes now.  Have upgraded one of my Simply 2008 companys to Simply 2009, not upgrading the rest of them til I figure this out.

    Any ideas anyone?

     Having tsimilar problem - Was on hold with Simply yesterday Jan 5 09 for 1 1/2 hours! and nothing.  Today I tried installing Simply on my network computer where I have been unsuccessfully trying to backup my data to (do my simply accounting work from another networked computer - data is stored on that one) - after doing that, my backup worked so I think I solved my problem. Annoying thing is that I did not have to do this for Simply 2008 - just wasted a few hours on this.
