I help a friend with the books for their company (corporation). They are currently using Quickbooks (which I do not like - I'm an accountant and have seen way too many clients mess up their books badly in QB by not knowing what they're doing!). They asked me to buy them a copy of Simply and help them switch over.
I saw the 'Entrepreneur' version as I was looking, and since it is so much cheaper I wanted to check it out to see if it would work for them. From what I can tell, it seems like they could get by with this version. The only differences that I see that might affect us are: only two years of history kept rather than 7 - when they send their year-end to the accountant they do double backups of that year which they keep forever anyway, so I don't think this would be a really big deal; no payroll module - the husband & wife are the only employees and they take a constant $2,000/month or whatever payroll each so the remittance amounts only ever change twice a year and they've been entering this as a regular journal entry anyway, so this wouldn't be a problem.
Am I missing anything? The program still handles GST the same as the 'regular' Simply? Does it look the same as the regular version?
Thanks for the help - I'd love to be able to save them $120 if they really don't need the more expensive version. They only do work for one company, and there's no complicated billing items or anything.
