    Problems with data clearing

I upgraded from SA basic 2007 to SA premium 2008 in June 2008, seemed to be o.k. but noticed first thing it cleared all of my invoice history up to 2 years back, annoying as I thought this version was supposed to give you more history.  I didn't ask to clear data, but thought may have something to do with changing versions. Anyway, now I noticed on  one of my customer file it has cleared all of the invoice look up history up to my new year, May 2008 even though I still have one unpaid invoice from before this time. The invoice still shows up on the aged report and receipts , but I can't look up the invoice, message I get is  "no details stored for this invoice" . I have checked my maintenance and clear invoice tabs and this client is definitely not  marked to clear automatically.  I never use the data clear function. I like to have as much history as possible. It seems to be a glitch in the system, do I have a corrupt database, and how do I fix it. Thanks

sallyb, the clearing of the data may not have happened at conversion but possibly at a fiscal year end depending if you have done one since June. It has happened to many of us if we hit the accept/enter/process/start/yes button way to quick, like before the screen has been fully read and understood.

I would suggest that you try another conversion from your back up file which you have from immediately prior to conversion. Use a different file name so as not to overwrite your current file. If this works and the details are still there then you at least have access to the data.

Depending on the volumn of input you may wish to re-do the entries since conversion but it may not be necessary if the second set of data is convenient for you.

You can check if your database has been corrupted by going to the Maintenance menu from the home screen and verify data. If there is corruption this will show which module the corruption is in and then you know where to start to find it. The solution will vary depending on the situation.
