    searching for an invoice after tracking data has been cleared.

    I am totally new at using simply, even took a course at the academy of learning but i can't seem to get this. Anyway, a few months back i got this idea that i had to enter every purchase we made as inventory, which i know now isnt right, because we do auto detailing, we dont sell products, we sell services. So my point is that now i am going back and editing the purchase invoices so i can delete these inventory items that really dont need to be there. After i edited them and the inventory went to zero, a message came up saying that i had to clear tracking data before i could delete inventory. So i did, but now i cant view those previous invoices. How can i get rid of this inventory list and still view invoices?

    Hi Andie

    As you may have noticed, clearing Inventory Tracking also clears Look Up details for your invoices.  When you select the option to clear Inventory Tracking, it does warn you that it will also clear the Look Up details.

    If you made a backup prior to clearing, you can restore it.  This will allow you to look up the invoices again.  As far as the inventory items are concerned, since they contain transactions, you would have to wait 2 years before you can delete them.

    i did back up the file, but unfortunately i cant seem to find it. Are those invoices still there? or do they need to be re entered? The warning message that came up said it makes it harder to look them up, it didnt say that i  cant. Is there any way to find them now?

    The invoices are all still there, you definitely don't have to re enter them, you just can't look them up.  If you run a Customer/Vendor aged report, you will see the invoices.  If you want to see the journal entry that the invoice made, you can run the Journal Entry report.  The only thing you can not do is bring the invoice up on the screen, the journal entry is definitely still there.
