simply acct beyond the basics class

wondering if anyone has taken this and if they found it good?

I took a class held by a simply partber and found it too slow. IE she would show us how to enter a vender and then get ups to that over and over for an hour - not helpful

I want something more fast paced - show me a new thing, give me a few minutes to get it, move on!

I am willing ot fly to edmonton to do the next class in sept 5 just dont want to waste time on somehting that I dont learn a lot from

Hi there:  If you are willing to spend that kind of money you would probably find it more helpful if you could seek out a really experienced Simply user to come in to your office and teach you for a day.  It would also be somewhat more helpful in that you could ask all the questions you need to know relative to your own personal set of books.

The seminars offered by Simply (such as Simply Accounting Beyond the Basics & others) are usually very fast paced as they are instructional only.  You do not do any computer entering, only listening.   They do provide a "manual" of all that they have been instructing you on which, of course, is quite helpful if you need to look back on something you learned to be reminded how to do something.

The course outline usually tells you all the topics that will be covered and the seminars are only for the day, so no one point goes on for an hour!   The seminars are good for giving you a quick overview of a number of things.  They do not, however, teach basic bookkeeping.  I think it is presumed that you have some knowledge of how the double entry bookkeeping system works in the first place, especially in the Simply Accounting Beyond the Basics course.   This has been my experience with taking some of the courses at least.     Rita Deering

I recommend this course and the beginners' course to all my new clients (and I do lots of one-on-one training myself) - everyone who has gone has said that they learned a lot and that it was well worth it.

Someone from our office (who has used Simply for about 8 years) took it last year and found it very helpful.

Hi again:  I agree with Brent about this Forum.  I have been using Simply for about 10 years and have been a bookkeeper for many, many more and it seems I am learning something new all the time.  Rita

Another couple of notes about training -

There are some very experienced training people on this forum that can connect with anyone over the internet and assist with problems on a per use basis.

For example, we go online with our clients for about 15 minutes or so and show them how/what to do. It saves them lots of $s and we don't spend all day driving around; so it's a win-win for both parties.

And as mentioned before, this Forum and the Knowledge Base is a great resource.

For your bank rec setup - take a look at this Knowledge Base article
