    CAB file explanation

    Hi Again,

One of the many problems my client has is that she appears to have lost ( or does not think she has access to previous years data.)She has been consistantly going through the motions of backing up her data over the years, however due to a change made by a repair shop some years ago, it appears she was only going through the motions and the backup was nover done until properly until a short time ago, hopefully before year end conversion.

Again, as I said before, my knowledge of Simply Accounting is virtually non existant, however, when browsing the files in the Winsim directory, I came accross a CAB file with a date of 02/07/2008. The client is not aware of this file, but is there any chance this could represent the 2007 data prior to conversion, and if so, how does one access trhis file.

    Thanks Again, Wayne

    It`s possible yes.

Simply Accounting backs-up to CAB files, so you may try to restore it (from the FIle menu in Simply) or just decompress it using winzip of winRAR.

    Re: CAB file explanation

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately the CAB file did not contain the 2007 data I was looking for.

Does anyone have thoughts on the date problem I posted on earlier.

    Thanks

    Re: CAB file explanation

Search the hard drive for *.sdb or *.cab files and see if any are Simply files (some cab files are not Simply files, never seen an sdb file that is not Simply).  In order to open any sdb file you need a file with an sdw extension and the same filename as the sdb file.
