    Invoices will not print

    I have a client who uses simply basic 2006. I copy his backup to a disc so I can review his information  from home. I have accountants version 2008. I am able to upgrade the backup and open it in my accountants version, however I cannot print invoices. I receive the message "the file does not exist. Please enter or browse for a valid file name". I have tried all the file versions of "invoice" in the browse section - no luck. I am able to print reports, just not invoices. Please advise.

    The reason you can't print invoices and are getting that error message is because the invoice template path is one on the client's computer for that userid, not on your computer.  Go to Setup, Reports & Forms, Invoices and look at the Printed Form File and you will see the path and filename.  This path and file was on their computer.  If you wish to print from your computer, you need to reference the correct form on your computer (which can be the same one if they send it to you).

     If you have tried the Default version of the template called Invoice, change the Printed Form Description to Invoice to reference the default template on your computer to make sure you can print.  Then if this doesn't work, then you probably are changing the Email form information instead of Printed Form information.

    Hi. Did you get the invoices to print?  I have one copy of 2008 on my desk computer and installed it also on my lap top. I also cannot get the invoices to print.  Any advice would be helpful.  I called for support on this before Christmas and was walked quite quickly through it.  We made all kinds of changes and I have no idea how or where.  I wish it would have been printed up and emailed to me.  Please help!

    Update:  I can get the program to print one invoice at a time.  After printing one I have to go back in and change the settings.  I am wondering if this is "normal".  This is what I did to get it to print

    I went to: Set Up - reports and forms- clicked on "invoices".under form description I clicked "user defined".  Then clicked "browse" - then in the next window double clicked on "invoice.sfm".

    I then went back to invoices and under "Email Form Settings" I changed the description to "user defined". Clicked Browse.  In the window that popped up I double clicked "INVOICE.RPT".  and the invoice printed once only.  Have to go through the whole thing for each invoice.  What do I do next?

    I was having the same issue with Purchase orders. I was able to print the POs from my computer, but when another user in my office who has access to Purshase Orders was trying to print, it gave him the message "file does not exist". I read your email about looking in the Email form information, and it had "User Defined Purchase Order" selected instead of the default "Purchase order". Once he selected the default file, he was able to print and email the purchase order. Yahoo!! Thanks Richard Ridings!! I have been trying to fix this for a few days now, and finally it works!!
