Unable to enter data for January

I have an corporate company that there year is from Oct 1 - Sept 31.

I have enterede all the data up to Dec 31st no problem.

I just tried to enter the data for January and am told to

"The date must be between 01/10/2006 and 31/12/2006. If you want to process transactions in the next year, choose Start New ear or Change Session Date from the Maintenance menu to start a new year."

I do not want to start a new year is is still part of the accounting year for my company.

How do I post for January without starting a new year.

In my settings I have the fiscal year as 01/10/2007 - 30/09/2008.

I need to enter January information?

    Thanks,

I had the same thing happen to me. I closed SA , re booted the computer and went back into the same data base and was able to continue working with a Jan. 2008 date. I changed the session date from December 31 2007 to January 01 2008 using the change session date in Maint. when I got this message. I am using SA2008 Basic B.

Hi there: Simply differentiates between the FISCAL year and the CALENDAR year, so all it wants you to do at January 1 is to move forward into a new calendar year.   Something I always do before changing it though is to go to File, Save A Copy, and save to a separate file a copy and call it "Company Name at Dec. 31'07 (or whatever year).  When you move forward to a new calendar year in January the program deletes some old things (over two years, primarily the payroll info) so I have found it a good thing to keep a copy of my books at each CALENDAR year end just in case I need something from old payroll.  You just do as Monty said when changing the session date to January 1, 2008.    R Deering
